Cruising the Majestic Fjords of Norway

DropCost UK Internet Offers

Norway offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, so it’s not surprising that so many people are choosing to book cruises there. Cruising to the Norwegian Fjords is the best way to really appreciate the majesty and sheer size of the fjords, there’s no better place to take it all in than from the water itself. Whichever route you choose, your trip will be full of fantastic sights including snowy mountains and glaciers, with remote fishing villages dotted along the way. There are some wonderful and historic towns to visit like Stavanger, Bergen and Flamm.

The great thing about cruises is that you get to move around and explore different places without any hassle about transport, as your hotel is also your transport provider. It can be such a relaxing way to travel. Entertainment is laid on and is there for you if you want it. This isn’t just evening entertainment, there are plenty of places that you might want to disembark during the cruise and go on a day trip to explore the local area.

If you take a cruise that travels the North Cape, you’ll be able to take an excursion and go by cablecar up Storsteinen in Tromsø. At the top of the cablecar route is Bodo, known as the gateway to the Arctic. You’ll need sturdy walking boots if you intend to do any hiking up there.
Similarly, another excursion will take you to the beautiful Tvinde Waterfall, which you reach by going through several tunnels on foot.

When packing for a cruise trip, don’t just think about what you’ll need while you’re on board. Decide which kind of excursions appeal to you before you go, so that you can go equipped with the right clothing and footwear. If you’re travelling in early spring, then thermal socks, gloves and a hat are very sensible things to bring along. It can get chilly on deck – and there’s no point being on a beautiful cruise ship admiring the Norwegian fjords if you are too cold to go out on deck. Of course you’ll need plenty of other clothing – like evening wear and some sports gear if you plan on using the on-board gym and swimming pool. Another essential piece of kit is a good waterproof jacket. It’s probably best to buy this from one of the many outdoors brands like the North Face or Karrimor, or a sailing clothing manufacturer like Gill or Musto.
